Additional Information:
_ Khor Virap: its notability as a monastery and pilgrimage site is attributed to the fact that Gregory the Illuminator was initially imprisoned here for 14 years by King Tiridates III of Armenia. Saint Gregory subsequently became the king's religious mentor, and they led the proselytizing activity in the country. In the year 301, Armenia was the first country in the world to be declared a Christian nation. A chapel was initially built in 642 at the site of Khor Virap by Nerses III the Builder as a mark of veneration to Saint Gregory. Over the centuries, it was repeatedly rebuilt.

This monastery rests atop a little hill in an otherwise very flat Ararat Valley. You can make it out from the highway a few km away and it grows bigger as you turn off the highway and drive towards it. When you arrive you will be as close to Mt. Ararat as you can probably get in Armenia. It is huge and towers over Khor Virap on even hazy days. You can actually see the green belt along the Arax River which denotes the boundary with Turkey from the monastery and there are some military lookout posts around this area.

_ The Cave Areni I: a substantial number Chalcolithic sites have been identified across the territory of modern Armenia. One of those is the cave Areni I in the Vayots-Dzor Province. Areni I represent the second half of the Chalcolithic, dating approximately between 4500 and 3400 BC. Areni I cave complex was occupied during that same period for ritual purposes related to mortuary activities. The dry environment of the cave together with a stable temperature provided excellent conditions for the preservation of organic materials.
Desiccated grains, fruits, textiles, leather, and even grass, which usually are not found at other sites, open a window onto an unknown world of perishable artefacts produced and used by Chalcolithic civilizations. Especially noteworthy is the discovery, deep in the cave, of the world’s oldest presently known wine pressing installation, dating back to around 4000 BC, and of the world’s oldest leather shoe, dated approximately to 3600 BC: this Leather Shoe is 1,000 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt and 400 years older than Stonehenge in the UK, has been found in the cave of Areni I.

_ Wine Tasting in Areni Wine Factory: the Areni Wine Factory was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the Simonyan family in the village of Areni with the aim to continue and enrich winemaking traditions. In a short time, the company was able to expand its production capacity and to offer the customers two different types of high-quality wine. Grape, which is the queen of fruits, passes a long way before turning into a patriarchal wine. The high-quality raw material is important for getting a good wine, but one of the basic conditions for getting high-quality grapes is its proper care, that is carried out in different phases.

_Noravank: it's a 13th-century Armenian monastery, located 122 km from Yerevan in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River, near the town of Yeghegnadzor.

_ "Armenian Stonehenge": Zorats Karer or Karahunj is a megalithic monument near the town of Sisian in the Syunik Province of Armenia. It is also often referred to in international tourist lore as the Armenian Stonehenge.
Karahunj has been involved among the ancient wonders of the world by National Geographic. «Armenian Stonehenge has located 5,000 km away from Portugalian Kromlex. It includes 223 vertical stones weighing up to 10 tons»-, reads in the magazine article of the world by National Geographic.
