Alluria Brand History

Machanyan family winemaking traditions started in a small village named Alyur situated near Van. The name of the village came from the river Alluria, which flowed around the village. Inspired by the family winemaking traditions coming from several centuries Machanyan family created Alluria wines from Armenian indigenous grape varieties grown in the family's own vineyards. In 2014, the first commercial batch of wine was laid. Hot climate, sandy and clay soil of st. Echmiadzin of Ararat Valley result in a perfect harvest, which combined with the love and warmth of hearts ensured the high quality and the unique taste of this wine.

Alluria recently started special edition wines from "Khndoghni” grape variety (Alluria the Special and Alluria the Special Reserve). The winery also makes its first and only white wine (Alluria the Beauty) from "Voskehat” variety Alluria also has a new wine which is a special blend of "Haghtanak”, "Karmrahyut” and "Khndoghni”.

Alluria's classical blends are from "Haghtanak” and "Karmrahyut” grape varieties.

All wines are made with traditional methods with spontaneous fermentation, meaning that no commercial yeasts are added. The winery uses only wild yeast, fermentation and ageing are carried out in barrels from the Artsakh oak. Wines are aged in barrels for more than a year and after bottling are additionally bottled.

Alluria Project

The Alluria project has 5 hectares of land located at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level in the Ararat Valley not far from the cathedral city of Holy Vagharshapat. The climate in this region, as well as throughout the Ararat plain, is quite tough, with a cold winter, during which there are prolonged frosts. Vineyards in the region, as a rule, are sheltered to protect them from cold weather. Another difference between the region is low humidity and irrigation viticulture. The soils in the vineyards are sandy-argillaceous. The vineyard of the project is laid on one hectare, and 4 more are being prepared for planting.
