Customs Rules

Customs Rules

Items of personal use can be imported into or exported from the country without the customs legislation. Local currency import or export is, however, prohibited. As for foreign currency import or export, there is no restriction if it is clarified upon arrival. The legislation is to be retained until departure. The sum of more than 10.000 $ or its equivalent in another currency is to be transferred through the bank.

Free import:

_ 200 cigarettes
_ 2 liters of alcohol
_ 5 kg perfume or an amount valued up to USD 500
_ Duty-free items can be just for personal use and cannot exceed 500$ (for residents and non-residents).

Prohibited:

_ Narcotic
_ Pornographic material
_ Meat and meat products
_ Plants and plant products
_ Knives and deadly weapons
_ Counterfeit money and goods
_ Weapons, explosives and ammunition
_ Fruit and vegetables without previous permission

Restricted:

- Wild Fauna and Flora:
The import of certain endangered species of plant, live animals and their products is prohibited or restricted under CITES. For further details please refer to CITES: www.cites.org.

- Pets must be accompanied by a veterinarian health certificate. Pets must have been vaccinated against rabies within 6 months and 20 days prior to entry.

- Pieces of art leaving the country need to be accompanied by a document from the ministry of culture authorizing export. Passenger must hold a photo of each piece of art. Passengers must pay a tax at the airport of approx. USD 10 per piece of art.
